In Steffler v. Gillis, Avize’s Keith and Brady secured a judgment of over $400,000 in the BC Supreme Court for a client who was left with chronic soft tissue injuries following a motor vehicle collision in July 2019. The case presented a number of challenges, including the plaintiff’s history of workplace injuries, an inconsistent pattern of employment and income, and conflicting medical expert opinions regarding the cause and long-term impact of the injuries.

Despite these hurdles, Keith and Brady successfully argued that the plaintiff’s ongoing symptoms were caused by the collision and that they had significantly impacted his ability to work and enjoy life. The Court agreed and awarded damages that were more than three times higher than what ICBC claimed the plaintiff should receive at trial, marking a clear and meaningful victory for the client.
